Breaking Free from the Scarcity Mindset: Women Supporting Women
Updated: Apr 12

If you're anything like me, you've probably struggled with the competitive nature of the beauty and fashion industries, such as the lash industry. It can be tough to navigate and even tougher to thrive in a culture that tends to promote individual success over collective achievements.
But I'm here to tell you that there is a better way. On this episode of Blended, my co-host Destiny and I share our own experiences in the beauty and lash extension industries and offer a new approach to building a successful business: one that's focused on collaboration and community building.
We believe that by breaking free from the scarcity mindset and embracing an abundance mindset, beauty and fashion entrepreneurs can achieve their goals and overcome mental barriers that may have been holding them back.
And the key to doing so is by building supportive communities that celebrate one another's successes and empower each other to grow.
Listen in as we dive deep into the importance of collaboration and compassion in the beauty and fashion industries. We discuss how to overcome isolation and break down barriers and offer insights into fostering stronger connections with like-minded individuals.
On our show Blended, and at Siroki Lash Studios, we believe that by exchanging knowledge and supporting one another, women entrepreneurs can create thriving businesses that benefit everyone involved.
Support Each Other to Succeed!

Building a successful business can be challenging if you face mental barriers and limiting beliefs. We sure did!
Overcoming these obstacles requires cultivating an abundance mindset and collaborating with like-minded individuals in supportive communities.
By engaging with others, exchanging knowledge, and empowering your peers, you can overcome your mental holdbacks and achieve their personal and professional growth goals.
Together, through a concerted focus on collaboration and celebrating each other's successes, you can build stronger bonds and achieve more in your industries.
"We have to change that narrative and support each other so that we can thrive and succeed." — Destiny Co-host of Blended
How Cultivating an Abundance Mentality Empowers Women to Lift Each Other Up
Recognize and acknowledge scarcity mindset triggers.

As an entrepreneur myself, I know firsthand how this mindset can hold you back from achieving your business goals. It’s something I really had to work through!
It's easy to fall into the trap of focusing on what you lack instead of what you have achieved. Believe me, I struggle daily with this, but the truth is, we have so much to be grateful for, and by celebrating your small victories, you can shift your mindset from one of scarcity to one of abundance. I found such help in participating in the trend to romanticize your life on social media.
Another important way to combat a scarcity mindset is by celebrating the successes of others. When we work together and uplift one another, we create a culture of collaboration and cooperation that benefits everyone. As entrepreneurs, it's important to support each other and work towards breaking down the barriers that limit opportunities for women in business.
But sometimes, you need a little extra help to overcome the dreaded “scarcity mindset”. Seeking out mentorship and supportive networks can make all the difference in your journey as an entrepreneur. Having someone to turn to for guidance, resources, and emotional support can provide us with the motivation and encouragement we need to keep going. (Our podcast was definitely created with that in mind!)
So, if you find yourself struggling with a scarcity mindset, remember to practice gratitude, celebrate your successes, and seek out supportive networks. By embracing abundance and working together, you can thrive in your industry and contribute to a more inclusive and equal professional landscape.

Embrace Collaboration over Competition with Peers
Building a successful business isn't about competing with others, it's about collaborating with them. I know firsthand how difficult it can be to compete with others. That's why I believe that we should be collaborating with each other instead.
Collaboration is key when it comes to building a successful business. It can help you to connect with others in your industry, share knowledge and resources, and support each other's endeavors. Joining networking events, online forums, and local meet-ups can help you to create and integrate into a community of like-minded women- who are all striving for success.
When we foster an environment of collaboration, we can work together on projects and initiatives, inspiring each other to pursue our goals and overcome challenges. Sharing experiences with others can serve as an inspiration and strengthen the collective power of the beauty and fashion industry.
By promoting supportive and nurturing practices within your industries, you can create a more balanced, equitable environment where everyone can thrive. Collaboration can also result in stronger companies with more resources and capabilities, opening your doors for ongoing innovation and development.
It's time to put collaboration ahead of the competition. Together we can achieve great things.
Develop a strong support network of like-minded entrepreneurs

As a female entrepreneur, I know firsthand how important it is to have a strong supportive network. Building connections with like-minded individuals can provide invaluable guidance, resources, and opportunities for collaboration that can take your business to the next level.
One way to start building your network is by attending industry events or conferences. These events provide an excellent opportunity to meet new people, learn from others' experiences, and connect with potential collaborators. You never know who you might meet at one of these events, so it's essential to keep an open mind and approach every encounter with a genuine desire to connect.
Social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram are also great ways to connect with others in your industry. By building a strong online presence and engaging with others on these platforms, you can create meaningful relationships that can benefit you and your business in the long run.
Entrepreneurial groups, mentorship programs, and co-working spaces are other great places to meet supportive peers and potential collaborators. These resources can provide you with guidance, resources, and connections that can help you achieve your goals.
But building a strong network is about more than just making connections. It's about nurturing those relationships and giving back to your community. That means being willing to offer your support and expertise to others and celebrating their successes as if they were your own.
Celebrate the successes of others in your industry- don’t “lash out”

Female entrepreneurs in this industry, like Destiny and I, often face unique challenges in the business world. But that doesn't mean we can't support and celebrate each other's successes!
Actively acknowledging and promoting your accomplishments can help break down gender stereotypes and barriers in our industries. It’s not a “humble brag”.
It’s a positive signal of empowerment and inspiration for your colleagues or aspiring entrepreneurs.
"The purpose of this podcast is not to say that we're better than you or like, we have it all together. It's to show you that we struggle with these as well." – Sierra Co-Host of Blended
We all have struggles and obstacles to overcome, but by celebrating each other's successes, we can help create a more equitable playing field for all.
Celebrating the successes of others not only benefits individual entrepreneurs but also serves as an inspiration to future generations of women. It shows them that success is possible and encourages them to pursue their passions and talents in industries they might have traditionally avoided.
By adopting an abundant mindset and celebrating the successes of our fellow entrepreneurs, we also positively impact our personal growth and development as business owners.
When we do this, we become open to learning from others, discovering new opportunities, and exploring more creative ways to collaborate and support one another. This approach allows us to view the success of others not as a threat, but as motivation and inspiration to continue striving for their accomplishments.
So when you feel small or have a sense of imposter syndrome, remember it’s not about you, it’s about the impact you can make! Let's LIFT each other and celebrate our successes together!
Engage in Regular Self-reflection and Self-awareness Practices

Feeling stuck in the scarcity mindset lately? It's a pretty common problem that can put a real damper on your potential. But there's no need to fret because you're not alone in this!
"We all are naturally going to fall into one of these categories at some point in our journey if not more than once. We struggle with them as well. We still struggle with them. We're going to in the future. We're not perfect, you know, and we just want to be super raw and vulnerable with you." – Destiny Co-Host of Blended
I know firsthand the unique challenges that come with pursuing business success. But I also know the power of supporting and celebrating each other's achievements.
By celebrating the successes of beauty business entrepreneurs, such as offering help in the lash extension industry, we not only support their businesses but also encourage future generations of women looking to explore entrepreneurship in this niche. As more and more entrepreneurs achieve success in the lash extension industry, they create a ripple effect that inspires others to pursue their passions and talents in any space they choose. You could be that person. You CAN be the person. If you keep listening to our show and following some great things we have to come, you WILL be that person. We are cheering you on!
Why?
When we surround ourselves with people who challenge, uplift, and encourage one another to grow, we can achieve amazing personal and professional development that wouldn't be possible on our own!
It's also critical for you to keep in mind that acknowledging your successes, no matter how small, is essential to encouraging positive behavior and maintaining focus on your path to an abundance mindset.
Let's face it - entrepreneurship can be tough, but we're in this together!
By investing in self-reflection and self-awareness practices, building supportive networks, and celebrating achievements, we can emerge as successful entrepreneurs and leaders, rooted in a mindset of abundance and cooperation.
Cultivate an Abundance Mentality through Positive Affirmations

One great way to cultivate an abundance mentality is through positive affirmations. Start by taking a few minutes each day to recite affirmations that focus on your strengths, passions, and goals.
Things like "I am capable and deserving of success," or "There is plenty of room for all of us to thrive in this industry," can be super helpful.
You can even practice visualization techniques to strengthen your conviction in your unbounded potential. However, the advantages of an abundance mindset go beyond simply being advantageous to you and your business; they may also inspire other women to lose their sense of scarcity, which would lead to a more supportive and cooperative workplace.
This can bring about long-lasting change and serve as role models for upcoming generations of female entrepreneurs by supporting one another and establishing supportive networks.
Be Open to Learning from Others and Sharing Knowledge

Do you want to know one of the keys to business success? Being willing to share knowledge and listen to others is real! No one likes a gatekeeper.
When you adopt an open mindset it allows you the mental strength and humility to look for mentors and role models in your industry, to ask for help, and even take on the role of a mentor yourself. The advantages are enormous! We can all develop and be successful in our businesses by exchanging ideas and experiences.
Mentoring strengthens the next generation of female leaders and demonstrates to society that successful women in business come in all shapes and sizes, in addition to benefiting the person you're mentoring. Amazing, isn't that?
When you adopt a culture of learning and sharing, you promote diversity and inclusivity. By welcoming people who have different points of view, you encourage more creative problem-solving and foster greater empathy within your business community. This inclusive strategy promotes deeper bonds, enduring alliances, and long-term business expansion.
You can make waves in your own little community, by initiating the first ripple. How? Contribute to the development of your industry and community, based on the philosophy of shared mutual success. You will see so much growth by encouraging a collaborative and encouraging environment when you work with others.
Encourage and Empower Fellow Women in your Industry

Let's talk about how we can encourage and empower each other in our industry. It's so important to understand the value of mentorship and sponsorship in creating a more inclusive and equitable workplace.
As business owners, we can help others in our sector advance professionally by serving as sponsors or mentors for them.
This not only benefits them but also contributes to breaking down the scarcity mindset that can hold us all back. Let's not forget about addressing the challenges faced by other women in our industry. By sharing experiences and discussing concerns, we can learn from each other and gain a broader perspective on the issues that affect us all.
This collective support helps us identify and overcome systemic barriers, leading to genuine and lasting change. By working together to encourage and empower one another, you can create a more growth-oriented, thriving environment where unified success is achievable. Let's pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable future within our industries by embodying and fostering these values.
